We’ve just spent a fabulous 8 days at the beautiful Gites de Montcabirol. Katie and Rich are amazing hosts!
The charming rustic gite was comfortable and so well equipped. I never been anywhere that had a choice of three different types of coffee makers! There is absolutely nothing missing from that kitchen!
The outside space was perfect to, a private outdoor seating area, with sunshade if needed and in addition a separate shaded seating area and outdoor cooking facilities.
Our children delighted in the use of the swimming pool and we had comfy cushioned sun loungers.
The location is a great base, Mirepoix, just a short drive away is charming and great for gift shopping, drinks and food or just an amble round.
We look forward to returning.

This is a beautiful flat in stunning countryside with everything you could need. My short winter stay was complete with a log fire & I hope to return to enjoy some longer summer days. Katie & Rich were so accommodating, and it is a lovely quiet place to relax and work.

Nous avons passé un excellent week-end dans le gîtes Limoux, l’espace des pièces est vraiment agréable, la décoration vraiment sympa et que dire du feu de cheminée. Les hôtes ont étés vraiment agréables à la fois discret et présent pour les éventuels questions. Nous reviendrons profitez du calme des lieux, de la piscine et des espaces extérieurs. Nous avons eu une très bonne connexion wifi

Très bel endroit, bien situé par rapport au lac de Montbel et à la cité de Mirepoix. Très calme, vert et reposant, avec des gîtes de toute beauté. Mention spéciale pour les hôtes Katie et Rich, très sympathiques et accueillants.

Le cadre extérieur. Le charme de la maison, très propre, bien équipée et cosy à la fois. On y dort bien en profitant du calme de la campagne. On se réveille au doux bruits de la nature. On a eu la chance d'assister aux naissances des agneaux... Les propriétaires sont discrets et aux petits soins. Nous avons eu une bouteille de bienvenue et de quoi se faire un bon feu de cheminée. Adorables.
Le wifi ne fonctionne pas bien dans la maison mais est ce vraiment necessaire? Le gite est cocon agréable et douillet, très chaleureux. L'environnement est apaisant et idéal pour se ressourcer et buller.
La gentillesse de Katie et son époux. L'emplacement calme le fait de ne pas avoir de reseau telephonique. Un véritable avre de paix.
Se ressourcer en Ariège - une région magnifique à découvrir. Calme Nature Se ressourcer Cosy. On a tout apprécié. Super rapport qualité/prix!
Tout est parfait chez Katie et Rich. La belle maison de caractère, la piscine, la tranquillité du lieu, sans parler de l'accueil convivial et de la présence discrète des propriétaires. On recommande !
Het was een geweldig huisje (Wij zaten in Pyrenées), heel rustig en een fijn zwembad. Mooie tuin, ontzettend aardige engelse hosts. Elke ochtend was er vers brood op bestelling. We hebben genoten. Er was ook een tafeltennistafel, dat staat niet op de website. Alleen de wifi moet nog geüpgraded worden, maar daar hebben Katie en Rich geen invloed op. Echt een aanrader dit groene paradijs!
Mooi karakteristiek oude Franse gite die geweldig mooi is opgeknapt. Zwembad is naast de deur en mooi. Gehele terrein wordt goed onderhouden. Omgeving is zeer mooi en montcaribol is zeer rustig gelegen.

Accueil chaleureux de la part de Katie et Rich. Gîte aménagé avec beaucoup de goût dans un endroit retiré idéal pour le repos et la déconnexion. Cuisine spacieuse et bien équipée. Salle de douche de bonne dimension. Propreté de l'ensemble irréprochable. La piscine bien sécurisée est un plus appréciable.
Très bel endroit, agréable et reposant. Rare de petit déjeuner au milieu des poules. Logement agréable et bonne literie. Idéal pour se poser quelques jours.
So thrilled we discovered this little oasis in the middle of stunning French countryside. The owners, Richard and Katie were extremely friendly and helpful, without being intrusive and made our stay really enjoyable. Our gite was clean, spacious, comfortable and utterly charming and had a lovely BBQ area nearby, perfect for outdoor dining or relaxing with a book. The pool area is a fabulous space. We found Montcabirol to be a place where one could relax and unwind or use as a base and explore the surrounding areas. You do need a car as there is no public transport and it is down country lanes. Mirepoix is about a 8 minute drive away and has quite a good supermarket ¬– Super U, to buy supplies. The Monday morning market held in the town square is well worth a visit and surprisingly large with a lot of stands. There are quite a few cafes and restaurants in Mirepoix but one of our favourite restaurants was La Flambee, just off the square. Their moules and scallop dishes had us both ditching the wine and conversation and totally focusing on our meals. Travelling further out, Carcassonne, Lac de Montbel and Montsegur are well worth the drive. There is a local winery close by but it had just closed for the winter period. We can’t recommend this place highly enough and will definitely be return guests.

We had the most wonderful time at Katie and Rich’s place. The location was perfect for visiting all the medieval castles and right next to Mirepoix, a most incredible medieval village. The house was clean, with everything one could possibly need provided but more importantly was beautifully decorated whilst keeping all the charm of an old French house. The pool and gardens were lovely. All in all it was a fabulous holiday and we would highly recommend to anyone looking for a holiday in the area.
We stayed 10 days beginning August at Gites de Montcabirol. My husband unfortunately broke his foot badly on the second day, Katie and Rich were amazing, they were so supportive and accommodating, Rich even took my husband to hospital! I would highly recommend a stay there, it’s peaceful,beautiful and the Gites are lovely
A beautiful secluded location offering a calm and relaxing holiday away from the stresses of everyday life. The Gites are stunning with all mod cons. Owners Katie and Rich are extremely helpful and go that extra mile to ensure their guests have a fantastic holiday.
We stayed at Katie’s and Rich’s air bnb and it was absolutely amazing! Such a beautiful location, only about 10 minutes from Mirepoix but In the idyllic countryside. The air bnb itself is beautiful, and there’s a lovely pool to relax by. Katie and Rich were so kind and welcoming, and were always happy to help. There was lovely touch’s when we arrived, fresh fruit and a bottle of wine. We would love to come back and stay in your lovely Gite! Thanks again for everything.
Fantástico lugar. Los anfitriones fueron muy amables y nos obsequiaron con fruta fresca y vino. Casa ideal para descansar, con o sin família, y aprovechar para visitar parte de la ruta de los "Cathares"

Enkel probleem met mobiel bereik( Nederlands)..verder absoluut een aanrader👌

We had a super holiday, location was quiet and tranquil. The gite was perfectly located next to the swimming pool and we were able to fully relax and unwind.
A car is a must, we travelled down to Carcasonne which was stunning and explored the area, local medieval town Mirepoix was pretty and unspoilt. It has a rustic charm.
Rich and Katie were great hosts and we wish them every success with their venture. Thankyou!!!
What an absolute pleasure to have stayed at this little gem, and a privilege to have met so many wonderful people. This really is a perfect place to get away. It’s only a 10 minute drive from Mirepoix, which has a beautiful square and some amazing restaurants. The pool was clean, and a perfect little sun trap, with plenty of trees around if you would like to get in to the shade. There’s a terrace next to it, which is perfect when keeping an eye on the children playing in the pool. The shower was perfect, the bed/mattress was one of the best sleeps I’ve had in an Airbnb. The living area is huge. It’s definitely worth coming with your family. The pool is fenced off, so it’s perfect to have that peace of mind should you come with children. The hospitality.... I really don’t think that Kate, Rich or their parents Geoff and Carolyn could have done any more for me. They are some of the nicest people I have met. I will certainly be looking to come back next year. Thank you for having me, and thank you for helping me with your local knowledge and ideas.
We have had a fantastic stay at Katie and Rich’s cottage. Everything went extremely well and smoothly thanks to the reactivity, the transparency, the kindness of the hosts. We were welcome with lots of care and appreciated attention/gifts (eg fresh fruits, fresh flowers from the garden, some charcoal for the bbq inc warmup stuff, wine bottle,...). The cottage itself is full of quietness, the house was really cool despite the 32°c, all required equipment in, the rooms very spacious, the swimming pool promising. Katie and Rich are warm hosts and rapidly we felt like at home. Ideal place for the ones looking for a de-connection session! We already think about coming back there at the next occasion! Warm thanks to Katie and Rich for those good memories and a big hug from our kids to Effie and her little sister!
